There is no question that a lot of people have found themselves having a hard time dealing with the dangers that come from over sharing online. A six grade teacher in Tulsa actually made a post that was meant to help students understand the dangers of doing this. She write a letter with a green marker and it contained the following message:
“Dear Facebook, I am a sixth-grade teacher in Oklahoma, My 12-year-old students think it is no big deal that they are posting pictures of themselves in bras or with their middle finger in the air. Please help me out by sharing this image and commenting with where you live to show these young students how quickly their images can get around. Thanks! –Miss Bour”
This post went viral in just a matter of minutes and it reached every state in the US. The post actually became viral in many other countries like Australia and Germany. The original post was deleted by miss bur already but there are many copies that people are still sharing online. When there is some kind of material that goes viral easily, it can have a great impact in society and this is one of those cases when millions of people go to read this and share it with others.
The most interesting aspect about this whole thing is that anything you post on Facebook could easily spread like wild fire and you might regret what goes out there when you decide to post it. This is the kind of thing that has caused a lot of problems for people all over the world. Jobs have been lost, relationships have dissolved and people have suffered serious psychological problems because of this.
Parents and students are actually very happy with the results that came from her efforts and everyone hopes that this is going to help more people see the importance and the dangers of posting any kid of material online that could compromise a lot of important things in their lives. This is the main reason why this sort of warning needs to be taken very seriously because it’s all fun a games until it actually happens to you.
