There is no doubt that speech recognition has been extremely useful for a lot of people. It can be used as a safe way to search and call people while driving, or then you simply don’t feel like having to type down a few keywords for your machine to search them for you. Speech recognition still has a long way to go, but there is a lot that can be done with it. This is the reason why Facebook has decided to buy a startup that revolutionized the voice recognition to a level that is much more efficient.
Facebook knows just how much more can be done with voice recognition for both work and entertainment. The Oculus Rift is another Facebook purchase that will make great use of voice recognition too and this is something that could be quite useful in games, simulators and even for writers who feel like they prefer to talk and have a machine write down what they are saying.
The possibilities are truly endless and there is no question that voice recognition will continue to be updates and polished to the point when it becomes a completely common way for people to create articles, books and give commands to their computers or video games. There are some great ideas being thrown around with the use of a gaming system like the Oculus Rift and many game developers are looking into voice recognition as part of the essentials in gaming.
There are many things that will grow popular in the coming years and speech recognition seems like it will be either a huge hit or it will be lost and forgotten, but everything points to speech recognition becoming much more popular in the coming years. One it gets perfected it will boost productivity for a lot of people who are slow with typing and it will also revolutionize the way that we operate all work and entertainment gadgets.
Facebook would never invest in something that they don’t feel could become popular in the future and that is the main reason why we should be looking at speech recognition as one of the most valuable productivity enhancements that will probably be perfected in the new few years. This doesn’t meant that Facebook is not going to be making serious investment mistakes with things that they purchase, but it seems like this technology will grow stronger day by day and many industries will take full advantage of this.
