The new plastic £5 plastic notes seem to be great for durability according to some people, but it seems like there are some downsides to this new fiver that might not be as appealing as one might think. We are going to be talking about the pros and the cons of this particular polymer notes.

The pros

They are stronger and they are very difficult to tear. This is a great thing because nothing is worse than tearing a bill and having to go to the bank just to see if they will exchange it for you. This new fiver is stronger and it lasts much longer because of the smooth surface and the strong built to avoid tears.

They are very flexible

You can fold these bills and they will easily unfold again when you take them out of your wallet. This makes them ideal regardless of how you plan to store them.

They remain clean for much longer

These bills are not going to get dirty fast and even after a lot of people have used them, they continue to look quite good. The notes are supposed to last no less than 5 years even with heavy use.

The cons

They tend to stick together

You might end up giving someone two fivers instead of just a single note. It seems like the newer the note is, the more likely that it will stick to another fiver easily and you might not even notice this because they will still feel very thin. It’s always good to double check just in case.

A nick can tear them easily

If they have any kind of small tear, they will easily continue to tear. Even when we already praised the new note for being durable and not tearing easily, there are also many people who report that if they do tear, they continue to degrade quickly and become useless.

Conclusion

You might feel like you love the new £5 note or you hate it, but if one thing is for sure, it seems like it will stay so the best thing to do is to be careful not to hand out two that have stuck together and also avoid keeping them around if they already have a nick or show any signs of damage. Just keep those things in mind and you should have no problems with it.
